...and we've moved !

Hi,

Firstly thank you everyone for following this blog. This blog is one of the four blogs that I write on. I had gone a bit inactive in between as I was living a very crucial part of my life and enjoying it to the fullest. And while I was doing that, I was also figuring out a way to merge all my blogs on one place and that’s when I found tumblr and fell in love with its simplistic interface. So therefore, I’ve imported all my four blogs on a single tumblr blog @ www.punkster101.tumblr.com

I shall be writing there from now on.
Hoping to see you there!

Cheers!

Django Unchained

Making it short. This movie is three things: Bad ass, Quentin Tarantino and Christoph Waltz. Watch it like an action movie, and you won't be disappointed.

Holy Motors

Holy Motors is your “whatever-that-meant” art movie. It is not recommended for everyone. The abstract concept will be beyond the level of understanding for many.

But in case you do decide to watch this one, then you’ll never know what to expect and after the initial phase of making no sense, the movie will try to form a vague picture and keep maintaining it, till the very end.

By the end, you would have to sit and think about what you’ve seen and comprehend the vague messages that the movie suggests. Just the fact, that the movie leaves you thinking, makes it a successful “art” film.

Personally speaking, it’s an okayish film due to the fact that it’s not entirely abstract, and does give a certain sense of idea regarding its subject which is very unique.

My Rating- 2.5/5

PS- It’s a French movie. So make sure you’ve loaded up your subtitles.

Misery

What can you say about movies that are based on novels by Stephen King (Who happens to be a God who writes, for me). King’s movies have plots that are so intriguing that you tend to ignore all other aspects of the movie, you just want to know the tale from beginning to end.

Misery is again, about an intriguing plot. The screenplay is very detailed, not much happens in terms of the setting of the story but since the plot is just too interesting, one just can’t help the curiosity which keeps you glued to the movie. Big ups to Kathy Bates for her role which also won her an Academy Award.

Watch this one, and be in awe at the immensely simplistic yet intriguing writing that this genius of a man Stephen King comes out with.

My Rating- 3/5

Argo

I've this phobia of watching movies with political connections, as there’s a lot of parallel thinking to do in order to get the connections of the depictions right. I was a bit hesitant to watch Argo for the same reason but then it got an Oscar and so I couldn't help myself.

And so, I’m blown away. The movie picks up pace from the very beginning. You remain there on the edge, till the very end, when you’re hanging by the very edge of your seat. The screenplay remains highly connected to the plot, there isn't a drag, or any unwanted emotional drama. It’s all right there, fast, cut-to-the chase and thrilling.

I say, commendable work by Ben Affleck as the director and the lead actor. I say, this one’s worth the time, a fast paced thrilling ride.

Zero Dark Thirty

Zero Dark Thirty, is fast, gripping and makes an impact in a very subtle way.Despite having a subject which deals with one of the most controversial criminals of modern times, the movie does not ride on his prominence at all.

In fact the movie is about everything else around him and not just him.Shot in titled sequences. The fast paced story progression keeps you on the edge of your seat.I

f you're a little slow like me, you may get a bit mixed up in the twists and turns that come up every now and then. But, you'll end up having fun.

My rating- 3/5

Kai Po Che

Kai Po Che is brilliance in the form a gripping story that failed to be good novel, in the form of spell-binding cinematography, in the form of good acting by the 3 lead actors, and in the form of the memorable movie it turns out to be.

The movie sets the plot very quickly, presents a detailing and then it moves, in a very engrossing manner.

A kind of movie that's can be called good without any two opinions.

I'm happy with this one.

1408

I cannot understand why I had missed this movie, even when I consider Stephen King as one of the Gods I look up to. Whatever comes out of his quill is bound to be brilliant, and that is why the man is credited to write the greatest movie of all time, The Shawshank Redemption.

1408 is brilliant as a concept, packs up the right amount of thrill and suspense to keep you involved in this roller coaster of a movie. I've no complaints against the screenplay, as a lot keeps happening all through the movie without any drag in terms of progression.

I've just one complaint. The ending. The movie was released with an original ending that was later changed to what I had seen. Keep the ending which King originally wrote and the movie is perfect. The modified ending was a let down for me.

You've Got Mail

I had to watch this movie as one of my Profs in college had used it as a reference in many of his classes which were surprisingly about Marketing. But yes, when you watch this movie marketing will be the last thing on your mind.

I can make out by the wiki page and even by the vague remembrance of spotting this movie's video cassette back in childhood, that this movie hit the spot back then and was pretty popular. I see why this story based on a book was a viewed as a very unique story and even appreciated. Today when you watch this movie, it reflects the innocence of those yesteryears.

The movie is good, a little draggy in the later half. Just a little though. Then again, watchable.

I would call it the Hollywood Masala movie from the 90s. Which is unlike the Bollywood Masala movie of today, because Masala cinema or in a more sophisticated terminology, "Mass Cinema" wasn't tasteless as it is today. Stories of those days had an essence to them. And today... there's no story at all. Oh well, but that's just Bollywood. Hollywood's keeping us alive. God bless America.
