Black Friday

Black Friday, one of the most hard hitting films I have I will ever see. Even if this movie would've not been based on true events it would've still been as horrifying as it is. Movies like these are beyond the judgement of technical parameters for they show a mirror to reality and make our jaws drop,

Mr. Anurag Kashyap shows a brilliant side of him that's not seen in his other movies. A side that's sensitive, closer to reality and shows a sensible perspective to the chaos of the system that burns our society as a whole.

Black Friday. A must watch. Gulp it down like a black coffee of reality and that too, without sugar.

Half Nelson

Half Nelson, a no nonsense, light movie that tries to depict some glimpses of abstraction through the representation of parallel story lines of the movie. The movie isn't very straight-forward therefore it will require some interpretation and that's actually something good. Abstract movies are like prisms, splitting a single beam of an idea so that it can be viewed in different shades of perspectives.

Half Nelson is an example of independent cinema, where the idea isn't decorated by too much commercial make-up and is presented in a simple and true form. Despite being a low budget film, it's a well-made film.

So yeah, HN. Light. No-nonsense. And most importantly, not boring.

Stanley ka Dabba

There are some movies that are just very different in terms of the story the try to depict. And whenever you try to depict something in an unusual or different manner, you tend to compromise a little on the simplicity and the meaning of a movie. The focus is more on the execution rather than the essence of the subject. But that's not the case with Stanley Ka Dabba.

Stanley ka Dabba is a gem of a movie. The movie tells you a simple story, in a very different manner. All through the movie you have a smile on your face as you watch the innocent depictions of childhood but the movie ends up striking an emotional chord with your heart. Leaving you with some cold air clogged in your throat. Stanley ka Dabba ends up summing up life,in my opinion, in the most innocent manner.

Please don't miss this one. I'm so glad I watched it. Yep.

The Godfather

Yes. I've finally watched this classic. It's criminal to be so late but I'm a lazy bum. So yeah.

Godfather is all about the signature style, the characters, the backdrop and the overall appeal that's generated which is just so damn classy. The movie is tightly scripted, the movie surprises you regularly, it hits you, makes you let out some breaths of astonishment. And while it does all this, it does it in style.

Godfather may have a regular story but the way it's executed makes it a timeless classic to die for. A movie that you cannot refuse watching again and again.

Bullhead

Bullhead is the first Belgian movie I've watched and what a way to be introduced to Belgian cinema!

Bullhead is a movie that hits you very hard. The movie is backed by a very different and powerful script. The plot of the movie is pretty complex for a person like me who's not into thrillers but the entire focus of the story is simply very emotional.

By the end, you're blown away as the movie takes you for a ride and shakes you from the inside. Don't be surprised if you see a moist eyed man after watching a movie like this.
