Argo

I've this phobia of watching movies with political connections, as there’s a lot of parallel thinking to do in order to get the connections of the depictions right. I was a bit hesitant to watch Argo for the same reason but then it got an Oscar and so I couldn't help myself.

And so, I’m blown away. The movie picks up pace from the very beginning. You remain there on the edge, till the very end, when you’re hanging by the very edge of your seat. The screenplay remains highly connected to the plot, there isn't a drag, or any unwanted emotional drama. It’s all right there, fast, cut-to-the chase and thrilling.

I say, commendable work by Ben Affleck as the director and the lead actor. I say, this one’s worth the time, a fast paced thrilling ride.

Kai Po Che

Kai Po Che is brilliance in the form a gripping story that failed to be good novel, in the form of spell-binding cinematography, in the form of good acting by the 3 lead actors, and in the form of the memorable movie it turns out to be.

The movie sets the plot very quickly, presents a detailing and then it moves, in a very engrossing manner.

A kind of movie that's can be called good without any two opinions.

I'm happy with this one.

Annie Hall

Woody Allen. Genius. Same guy. Yep.

I usually don't watch comedies. It's hard to make me laugh, I'm sad that way. But I cracked. Many times while watching this lovely movie. Woody Allen the comedian is just brilliant with his hyper-active timing, and you just can't help rewinding a couple of seconds and cracking over a scene again. All the humor also packs up a pinch of wisdom to it some times.

A movie where the story is not in the plot, but in the detailing, in the screen play, in the numerous punches that make you giggle, all through this fun-filled ride.

Hop on. Watch this one and you won't be disappointed.

Also, Mr. Allen. So much respect.

Barfi !

We’ve reached a place in time, when innocence is questioned for it does not appear to be genuine. This notion is even reflected in the movies that are made. The innocence that was prevalent in the Black & White era had completely drained off by the time we were out of the 90s. Barfi brings back that long lost innocence.

It is like watching a black & white movie in full color, experiencing beauty that’s so pristine that it’s beyond words. Beauty in every respect, cinematography wise, screen play wise, music wise or even in the way such a touching tale has been told in a strictly simplistic manner. Priyanka Chopra has made me proud as a fan for you cannot help falling in love with her; I can already picture her receiving the best actress award. Ranbir Kapoor has talent running in his veins, which he proves yet again. Both actors create an impact, that too with roles that are dialogue-less.

Barfi is like a hand-picked dream, that’s so beautiful, so believable that when the end credits roll, you don’t want to go home. You want “reality” to wait outside the cinema hall so that you can dive into this dream once again.

Ciao, Professore!

This adorable movie is my introduction to Italian cinema. I am totally in awe of the sheer honesty and innocence of this movie. It's one of those very few movies that never really goes downhill all through the story but keeps you smiling till the very end. In fact by the time the movie ends, you would want to hug somebody due to an outburst of positivism.

Ciao, Professore is a light movie, as in, the subject is very easy to grasp and understand. What is commendable is the way an otherwise ordinary story is conceived. The movie is full of smile-worthy adorable moments and genuine laugh-worthy humor.

While maintaining it's lightness in the form of humor, the movie also touches upon some serious issues in life. The satire is very mild, and not in-your-face and it definitely adds a depth of meaning to the movie.

Don't miss this one. This one can definitely make you smile, and can even rescue you from a bad day.

Kahaani

Vidya Balan is here again, to falsify the stereotypes according to which the only things a female actress is supposed to do in a Bollywood movie are singing, dancing and catalyzing the climax of the movie by shedding some tears. The lady proves it, that a good actress can independently drive a story without resorting to anything else and leave the people in awe.

Kahaani will grip even those who're not fond of thrillers, those like me who shut their minds while watching their movies.

Previously, Vidya succeeded in leaving a mark with the Dirty Picture where her character was the highlight. But in Kahaani, it's the story and the way it has been executed. Vidya fits in perfectly and walaaa, we have a good movie.

Highly recommended for people who've still not watched it, for it's a fine example of good cinema comprising of a gripping story, dynamic screen play and a fine actress like Miss Balan who pulls it all off with sheer excellence.

Also, a very notable aspect of the movie is the background score by Clinton Cerajo.

Amen to good cinema and Amen to this movie.

Midnight in Paris [2011]

You have to see this movie to realize how beautiful it actually is. I've always had admiration and love for places like Switzerland, Paris all thanks to DDLJ. This movie just reminded me of my love for Paris, making me fall in love with the place all over again.

So you have a movie set in the most beautifully poetic city in the world which tells a story which is not only amusing but beautiful at the same time too. The movie manages to capture the magic of Paris in a way, that'll make you smile.

No complaints about this one. Because when it comes to Paris, everything is just so bloody beautiful, perfect and oh-so-romantic. <3

Agneepath [2012]

I think making a remake of a movie is one of the biggest challenge in movie making. You're already over shadowed by a movie that has made a mark and to make the same movie that manages to stand out unique is tough indeed. But there are certain attempts that surely hit the bull's eye, if not all of them.

Welcome to Agneepath again. Presenting our very own Hrithik Roshan, as the angry young man who did not seem pretentious at all despite of acting in a movie that was supposed to be pretentious.

This movie is entirely Hrithik's who delivers the sheer intensity of the role merely by the look in his eyes, he's that explosive.

The movie is long, but manages to weave a tight story. Therefore, not even once does the story lag.

You're gripped as you yourself will feel the rage, the vengeance and the fiery emotions depicted in this saga.

We finally have our first good movie of 2012. And it gives me hope, that the mayan calendar lies. We still have years of quality cinema ahead of us.

Don't. Miss. This. One.

My rating- 4/5

PS- I repeat. Bollywood is fortunate to have an actor like Hrithik Roshan. Yep.
And yes, Piggy chops is not noticeable but I absolutely loved her. She's the apple of my eye. Whattodo.

Next Three Days [2010]

I loved this movie. A neat little plot. Good story progression. Nicely executed.

Was on the edge of my seat as soon as the movie took off. Russell Crowe is awesome as the lead with the right amount of intensity to carry it off. Highly recommended.

Also, there was also an appearance by this guy who played Marv in the Home Alone series. Kinda went nostalgic there.

This is an awesome movies, tells you as to how far one can go under the influence of this drug called "Love", and it's always worth it.
